I hope everyone is having a great day and had a good weekend of hunting.

I got to go Sunday morning, saw one bird fly down, heard I think the same bird cluck twice and that was IT.

I have been receiving several pms regarding the thread where a gentleman was lucky enough to kill a turkey but he exceeded the "ethical" line of shot distance.

I didn't say he "allegedly" exceeded it because obviously he did exceed the shot distance that some people feel is the limit.

Ethical limits of any kind, shot distances included, vary greatly from hunter to hunter, we all know that.

I know people that will simply not shoot at a deer past 100 yards. Their equipment, personal feelings, personal ability all made them reach this decision.
I have no problem whatsoever with popping a deer well past that distance.
Even with a centerfire rifle there is an "ethical line" that is drawn out there, somewhere.

If mr.big posted he killed a deer at 500 yards with a centerfire rifle, other than shaking my head IN AWE of his ability, I would just say good job.

If I posted that I killed one at 500 yards I would say, you got craphouse rat LUCKY.

His shot was ethical, mine was not? Maybe, possibly in some eyes. In my eyes, no my shot would not be "ethical" because it exceeded my ability.

I just hope that everyone can step back, take a moment and THINK.
Everyone sees things that they disagree with, myself included.

If you see something in the future, if it gets to you to the point you feel you have to say something, might I suggest a well thought out, constructive and educational / informational pm.

Many times the worst enemy we, as hunters, have are ourselves and each other.

When things get to the point of name calling and flaming that is where a moderator or myself has to step in.

Keep it civil and lets all remember we are in this together.

That is all I am going to say on the matter.
Thank you all for your time and have a wonderful and a blessed day.

Ok I lied, one more thing.
I want to thank Grizzly for stepping up to help moderate and to raise ALOT of money for charity through game call auctions.
If you feel he (or any moderator) does something wrong, the same pm as above works wonders. To him, to me either one.
Posting it up on the open forum will not be tolerated, same as in every other forum on the site.

I will add only this, being a moderator is a tough job and not everyone can handle it. Grizzly, in my opinion, can.

Just remember, he has a thankless job and does it for free.

That is all, drive through.
