went out to scout this morning in prep for juvi this weekend. had birds gobbling everywhere so I went to the closest group I could hear to just see where they were flying down at. I hunt right on the river bottom so the fog was THICK but didnt seem to bother them today, and actually helped me some because at about 7am I had a group of 13 jakes literally walk by me at 20yds.....was pretty crazing seeing how I was literally standing in the middle of a wide open field leaning against a gate lol. THey just kept on walking by like I wasnt even there.

ended up seeing about 30 hens, 13 jakes and 11 toms. The issue is they were all still very grouped up together and the 2nd issue was the jakes pretty much pushed the toms out of the flock. Usually Im ok with that cause it makes the toms easier to call off a large group like that but I had the same issue with jakes last year that made the toms hang up out of range and I seemed to always call the jakes in with ease.

still got some splitting up to do so we will see what next week looks like.

That is funny... But sounds like you will be on them this weekend! Good luck

Good report, sounds like ample opportunity for the juvenile. Are juveniles allowed to shoot jakes on this farm?

Yeah usually I leave it up to the kid and access the flock population. The past 2 years killing one wouldn't be an issue

Birds here are still grouped up good, seems to be on schedule

That's what I'm seeing (not seeing) in Hickman Co. Any birds I do see are in large flocks still. Not seeing the 2-6 groups in different pasture all around yet.

Haven't had the opportunity to get out and do any scouting yet. I am stationed at Fort Campbell so I hunt on Fort Campbell 90% of the time. Problem is I just returned from overseas, but I have been hunting the base for about 15 years now and they usually stick to roughly the same areas. Good luck to all you guys, season starts on Fort Campbell this Saturday so I am ready to go.

Thank you for your service and best of luck this weekend. Give us a report if you don't mind.

Will do Palspal weather is supposed to be rainy on Saturday but I am just going to setup a blind on a field edge that I sprayed down with some camp dry and wait it out. Supposed to clear up on Sunday.

Dad told me today he's just now seeing flocks starting to break into subflocks in middle tn. Right on schedule

Well I said I would post about my weekend on Fort Campbell. No luck I didn't even hear one bird gobble. I think the weather patterns we are having may be affecting them. Had rain on Saturday then Sunday was pretty cold light drizzle and in the low 30s with wind chill.Hopefully with the weather breaking this week hunting will be a little better. Supposed to be sunny and in the low 60s. I am going to hit the woods Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
