They say it will reduce recoil by 30%... Saw one at the NWTF show, not sure that dampener is going to reduce recoil to that extent???

Gimmick or real?

I saw those too, and was a little baffled. I don't see how that can be that effective. I mean, when you pull the trigger the shot is going forward while the gun is going back. I can understand dampening, but how is that going to stop the force of the gun driving backward. Lord only knows anything might help a little, as those 835's with 3.5's are sure stompers!

They did give a nice technical reason for why it will work... problem was I just didn't quite understand it...
They are also improving the recoil pad on them as well so maybe there is hope.

I have both 500 and 835 and even with turkey load shells I don't think the kick is that bad.....but then again I compare the kick with my grandpa's/great great uncle's patented 1913 single shot 12 gauge...that flat out hurts haha

My first turkey gun was a 500 and my second and current is an 835. I put a sims recoil pad on the 835 and it helps. Shooting paper those 3 1/2" shells will rattle your teeth but amazingly I feel nothing when the turkey is at the end of my barrel.

I agree, never notice much when your dropping the hammer on a bird. The hevi #6 or #7 in 3.5 ain't too bad, the mag blend will start to get your attention, but the black shell HV winchester 3.5" are straight pain in that gun!
