Awesome gun. Kills on both ends. Mine needed to be adjusted to properly feed the rounds with the large rims Ie long beards. Mossberg all seem to have a problem with this it is a 10-15 minute fix if you can follow a you tube video. Technically you need a roll pin punch but other types of punches can be used.
The 535 is a great cheap turkey gun. Mine is a tactical turkey with thumb hole stock, 21 inch barrel factory cammo with a red dot. I use a kicks gobbling thunder but I can't remember which one. It puts ALOT OF lead on a plate at 30 and does well at 40. Some say they will harvest out to greater distances but most would say that lead looses to much energy to ethically harvest out further than forty.
There are better guns but a field version, blued with a wooden stock, that has the mossberg choke system can be bought used for between $250-300 if you look long enough.
I can't stress enough that they really kick hard. For instance, my scope is too high to get an effective cheek weld on my comb of the stock, when I shoot 3.5 magnums the gun "jumps" it bloodied my mouth a little and Hurt my jaw and gave me a little headache but I only shoot those types of shells twice a year once to ensure my zero is good and then when I'm ready to harvest a bird. I don't seem to notice recoil when I'm harvesting game somehow.
Next to my single shot H&R 10 gauge the recoil from the 535 is similar to my 20ga.
