besides a close gobble on a cool crips morning the most awesome sound in the woods to be is a spit and drum! (and i dont mean Brandon Elmore just to be clear hahahah)

just something about that sound when you hear it out of the blue or right behind you that makes the hair on my neck stand up and my heart race....if you hear that there is no doubt the bird is in range!!!

saw a few strutters on the way to work this morning and just made me thing of that....carry on.

I like when you here competing gobblers in different directions and they are all coming at you and at a fast pace! Holly crap!

I like when he gobbles so close you can actually hear the air comming out of him mouth! Thats when you know its go time!

That's the one thing missing from my hunts. I can't hear the drum :( .

I have heard the spit 2-3 times, but the drum must be at a frequency I can't hear. I can hear walking in leaves just fine, but miss out on that aspect.

I have a buddy with a tame gobbler. Once while standing right by it, he and some friends were amazed that I couldn't hear it drumming at my feet.

Spitting &drumming is cool but I love when they're so close you hear the rattle at the end off the gobble. Thats when he's about to get a headache if he steps into an opening.

Especially if he's slipped in and you didn't realize he was that close  !

yes sir, my favorite is a bird that has been vocal then shuts up only to shock the forest so close you can hear the feathers rattle when he announces his arrival.

haha man that sentence in itself got me pumped. Had a bird do that exact thing last year. I had NO IDEA he was behind me and when he gobbled he was literally less then 6ft. To be honest it was so close it actually scared me to where i flinched...he didnt see it but he did see the #7s coming at him a few mins later when he made his way around me.

When those hens start yelping just prior to flydown and you can just make out the silhouettes in the trees. Then, as it gets lighter you can make them out clearly!!!! Man that is cool as crap to me.
