This is my first attemp at using a trailcam. Got this pic off my cam yesterday,I think he needs to grow a couple more years but what I noticed was every pic on the cam in the last 2 weeks was taken at nite

Get used to it Dale817. What trail-cam use will teach you is that most deer activity is nocturnal, especially late into deer season.

The only daytime pic was me walking up to cam to pull swap the sd card, kind of dicouraging!

Discouraging, yes, but a good learning experience. That's why I recommend trail-cameras so much. Too many hunters believe that what they see while hunting is an excellent indicator of what deer are using their hunting property. In most cases, that is incorrect. MANY more deer usually use a particular property than hunters actually see, especially older bucks. The problem is, the vast majority of the deer activity is an night, when hunters will never see it.

Too often I see questions from hunters on this site that go something like this: "Where have all the deer gone? I'm not seeing anything from my stand." The deer haven't gone anywhere. They have either learned to avoid that stand or they are moving at night, or both.

I was surprised at the amount of movement on the nites when there wasn't any visible moon,I was always under the impression deer moved at nite only when there was alot of illumination.I think Im goin to like this trailcam stuff, maybe someday I will move up to a Homebrew!lol

Unless I'm wrong in my way of thinking there's no difference in night movement between new moons and full moons. Deer don't need a light to see by.

Now I see!(pun intended)Lol.Like I said earlier I'm new to this cam stuff so any tips or trick would be greatly appreciated,Thanks in advance

I think your exactly rite, regardless wether there is a moon at nite or not the deer move.
And almost all my mature bucks I'm getting on camera have been at nite since week after thanksgiving.. Very sparse daylight pictures of bucks..

Deer's eyes are built specifically for seeing in the dark. They can see perfectly fine at night when there is no moonlight.

That is basically true almost everywhere in the Southeast. With a few notable exceptions, mature bucks are highly nocturnal at all times of the year, especially "woodland" mature bucks.

I seen at least 20 deer in fields last night around Midnight on my way home from work ,I seen one bunch running around playing with a big stud horse, that the owner has given up on trying to keep up.( I would say this spring he will be missing something).
I do not know what the moon was.... or the weather forecast as far as fronts,But they were feeling good last night.

This is just what I seen with my headlights near the road ,I can only imagine what was farther back in the fields.
