Wasn't going to tell anyone about this bird til after he was dead and scored for the longbeard invitational, but the time has come for his story to be told so all can morn his passing....especially team MIA members.

Saw him 3 weeks ago, got my binos on him and knew he had more than 1 beard, but that was all i could tell (which is enough info for me.) Couldn't wait for a few days before the opener, so I could try to find where he might be roosting.

Had to run by my pop's place to grab some post hole diggers to set some 4x4 posts today, so I decided to run and pull the card on a camera. On my way in, I saw a big heap of feathers and my heart sunk!!

Pretty sure he would count for 3 beards, considering the smaller 2 seem to have a definite separation in them. Correct me if I am wrong tho!

Well that just sucks don't it?!?

No doubt a triple beard! That's a real nice bird, hate it had to end like that. Bad for team M.I.A, good for the rest of us!

Longbeards Inc. strikes again! It was difficult to find a coyote willing to take on the job but with the right amount of persuasion....well, you see the end result.

Yeah he was definitely a triple beard. Any idea how he died? Poached?

No not poached... Coyotes. He was roughed up pretty good. Neck n head chewed up some. They didn't drag him off and eat him tho. Maybe something scared them off? I'm not sure.

what did you do to your hand?

It's a flapper!! A callous tore off yesterday at the gym...

With the high winds it's possible he was blown from his roost and injured.... resulting in him being killed or caught by a pred... I have seen it happen.

Sure hate to see that kind of loss.... contest or not, that would be a very nice bird to score.

Scoring would probably just make it worse lol. Ignorance is bliss

But atleast you found the remains and can collect the spurs & beards.... rather than never seeing him again and wondering where he went or who may have taken him.

I'm assuming Setterman was referencing the callus, but then again my mind is usually in the gutter.

Yes, you caught my line of gutter thinking.

Didn't y'all have some thunderstorms roll through this week? If so, lightening could be the killer as it has been known to whack a few each year

sorry to see that, at least you found him. Maybe another boss will grow up to take his place and fall victim to your trigger
