Just got this in Anyone used one? I had my heart set on this same gun in 44mag, but I seen this guy on sell. So it saved me money right off the bat. Plus the convenience of having it shipped straight to the house not a dealer saving me more time and money sealed the deal.
14" 50.cal CVA Optima V2 thinking a good reddot and 50 yard shots thoughts?

Nice. You should be able to easily find an effective load for that for 50 yard shots. Would look at trying 240 grain xtp mags and loose triple 7.

I had one just like it. I put a Nikon pistol scope on it. It really liked the solid copper Barnes 250gr Expanders. Best I remember, I was shooting 60gr loose powder. Blew a coyote almost in half with it at 20 yards. Kinda regret selling it now.

Be careful and DO NOT put two powder pellets in it and not hold onto it tight…… I know a guy who did that 🙋🏻‍♂️.

I had lined up two muzzleloaders and a slug gun before shooting that one and like and idiot not thinking laid my arm up on the rail like I was shooting a rifle and the rest is history 😂.

I have one with a red dot. I'm shooting 100 gr of pellets and 240 gr xtp. I lined it up at 50 yds and shot it out to 90. It's shoots good. I haven't hunted with it enough to kill a deer with. I say every year I'm gonna kill a doe with it but haven't.

Guy used to hunt with at Buck Creek used to carry one as a second shot during muzzleloader. He was shooting it one day at camp and asked if I wanted to give it whirl. Nope.

I used one last year and shot 2 different deer with it both at 20-25 yards and neither shot was a pass through and there was absolutely zero blood trails both times. Tried scorpions and SSTs both with 2 pellets of white hots. I didn't have a chrono last year so I never clocked the fps but im guessing out of that shorty barrel it was pretty slow. I gave up on it and went to a smokeless after that. But if I ever pick it up again I would do 2 things different: 1) id use blackhorn to try to get more velocity and 2) I only shoot Barnes to get more penetration, cuz those huge led slugs were not gettin it. GL with it out there!

Had one for a few years but not killed with it yet. Shoot 60gr BH
209 and a 220gr bloodline. Topped with a Burris scope. Recoil ain't bad but I load for deer not bear

There is a ton of info on these pistols over on www.modernmuzzleloader.com

Just put CVA V2 pistol in the search bar.

I have one and shoot 90 grains of BH209 and Hornady XTP 240 grain bullets with green sabot. Mine also has a red dot scope on it. They are very accurate but as stated above, make sure you have a firm grip.
Have not shot one but the XTP 240 gn should be ideal out of the shorter barrel. No worries of grenading the bullet at the lower velocities.

I am one who waits for a shot, do that with this gun and you will have no problems.
