I laid in a low roll in the field for over an hour in eighty degree weather for this bird. It was a tough hunt. When he finally presented a shot I spanked him! I know your wondering why I was laying in a field... Well I hadn't had a bird gobbled all morning. Walked all over 500 acres without a gobble at daylight. Was getting back in the truck when he gobbled. Yeah we've all been there. I was parked in a field with no way to get around to the woods where he was. I went down in a draw in the field and began belly crawling through the thick hay to as close to the edge of the woods as I could. He stepped out with me laying there. I couldn't do anything. He went back in the woods. Gobbling and strutting back and forth on the ridge. When he stepped out of sight for a second. I rolled over on my back and waited. When I heard him gobbled again and knew he was in the field I I setup and swung around. He gave me a spilt second. That was all I needed. Inch and a half spur and 11 1/2 inch beard.

Thank you! I was proud of it. Turkey hunting and bowhunting big whitetails is too close to call. Just when I thought those were at the top I had to go and call in a yote and spank it with the Hoyt. Glad I don't have to choose! ;)

Awesome bird! Worth sitting it out sometimes. You got me in one of those strange moods for spring turkeys again... right in deer season when I'm hoping to kill my first deer... I get these weird moments of wishing for spring when I see a pic, video, or story of a spring gobbler. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely the prettiest picture I've seen on TnDeer since I signed up  ! All you usually see is "man love" and stuff of the like :D

Congrats on a nice bird!
