My dad bowhunted in the 80s in South La where I grew up. Back then even seeing a deer made for a good season. After 5 or 6 years of frustration he got too busy with us boys and gave it up. (He did manage to smack some hogs from time to time though.) Deer hunting was awful down there back then and we just didn't do it much. When we did hunt it was a gun hunt and he was more focused on us than himself.
Fastforward 20+ years and my brother and I love to bowhunt and dad started getting interested again. He had to have three surgeries before he could draw a bow, but after he was healed he jumped in.
This weekend he put a perfect shot on a buck. He sounded over the moon excited about it. It is good to see him excited about hunting again. He's killed better deer than this one, but I'm pretty sure this was his favorite. He said he looked like he had parkinson's after the shot
