Out of venison, minimal time to hunt, and little deer movement. I shot at a doe at about 75 yards and the smoke obscured my view. I only saw the little button buck that was with her run into the woods. I thought I knew exactly where she was standing, but apparently I misjudged my ability. No blood. Just tracks. I circled for what had to be ten minutes.
Then this.
So far, this is my favorite picture. I took it because I was so relieved I wanted to remember it. I wanted meat and I wanted a deer. That tiny drop of blood lead to some major excitement. I followed the direction of the drops and found her about 40 yards away. Great shot, just didn't bleed much.
I keep a copy of this on my desk. Makes me happy.
