My First Turkey Calls

I was going through some boxes and straightening up stuff. I stumbled across these calls. The box call was made by a friend of mine and was my first turkey call. I wanna say he give me that around 2000 or 2001. The Olt's call was give to me later in life by my granddad. He too stumbled across it while going through things. I can look at both of these calls and and be flooded with memories of the men that gave them to me and the hunts, successful and non successful that I drug them around on. Here it is still January and I'm fired up about spring turkey season.

That's really cool. I still have my first call and carry it every day I hunt. It is a Lynch World Champion box that when all else fails, it can jerk a gobble out of a bird! Then work him to the gun as sweet as you please…

Really neat that your friend made the box and you have a hand me down from grand dad.

Really cool. I've tried a box or two over the years and just suck at using them so typically stick with a slate and mouth calls.

My favorite. Used lots of other calls over the years but, this guy always makes it into my bag. I always recommend them to new turkey hunters. So simple it's hard to screw it up.

Believe he was referring to the opened one that looks handmade. VERY similar to a Lynch. Pretty common design for handmade boxes

My 1st turkey call was a tylenol bottle with a condom stretched under the lid which had a hole in it. Then a sound hole in the bottom. Old days
