my god the weather looks like total POO the next 2 weeks

Saturday is looking good then I'm off to Texas for a week of Rio hunting. Hoping the weather will dry up when we return

I won't hunt in the rain. The wind usually isn't too bad in the early morning, which is when 90% of my hunting is done, especially early on.

ofc, it's the only reason kill numbers are on the decline this year.

oh, wait season hasn't started yet, save this post till the end of the first week of April.

BUT, if enough of you jacklegs won't hunt in the rain, we may actually let a few more birds survive the first week and actually breed some hens before they hit the grease :)

As for me, I'll be there unless there is lightning! Best gobbling in the world is 30 minutes after about a 12 hour rain.

Shhhhhh, would ya!!! Don't let that get out! RUGER can you delete that post?

oh im going unless it is pouring or 20mph winds (prob still go in the wind) but doesnt make it as FUN is what Im getting at. Early season rainy days makes it harder to hunt where I hunt cause they all just flock up in a giant field and sit there all day.

I like those cool crisp mornings and warm sunny mid mornings. Just what I love to hunt in, but ill go either way but I DONT HAVE TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT LOL

So which is it "while" its raining or "after" ;) :D ?

I'm blessed to be able to hunt when I want, as I can come and go as I please at my job. But, I am burning PT. So, if it's pouring the rain when I get up and the radar shows it continuing, I'll wait for better conditions and save that time.

But hey, if someone is limited on time or they just enjoy getting their stuff drenched, then that's their choice. Pleasing one's self is another great thing about this sport.

Are you guys.....oh wait a minute, i started to post then realized i must be on the women's forum with all of this not hunting in the wind or rain. Sorry, i almost made fun if you gals.[emoji23]

If you stick with it, learning to hunt in the nasty stuff makes you a better hunter. I don't like the wet arse factor but killed a lot of turkeys in the rain. You can get away with more movement. Sucks to have to dry everything in your vest though

2 rainy day birds for all of the doubters. No blinds, just roughing the elements.
