Now that the "BlackFlash" Homebrew VIDEO UNIT has been OFFICIALLY CONQUERED I am gonna do a multi-purpose build. Gonna use a Sony W290 for the build. Gonna put a time lapse board in it so it can be used as a 12mp Plotwatcher camera. Also gonna use a SP Bigfoot board in there as well. That will give me video use as well as a regular PIR trailcamera. Also adding a Slave VIV 2800 whiteflash to it as well. This unit can be used for 4 cameras in one then. A Plotwatcher camera, a regular trailcamera using the cameras flash, a whiteflash food plot camera by turning the slave power on, and a Daytime only video unit with true sound. What do you guys think??? Do you guys think there is a need for a unit such as this???

ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY? :)

Sounds like just what I'm looking for.

BSK is too busy to test this one. Just send it to me for testing. ;)

Time-lapse is really gaining advocates. But that is more for scouting than what I use cameras for (inventorying buck populations). But as a scouting tool--to watch when and where deer are entering a field during daylight--I can certainly see the uses of time-lapse.

I can also see an application for "if" deer are entering a field during daylight. By field, I'm think something much larger than most hunters' food plots, where would be nice to be able to identify deer at greater distances.

At present, ALL of the commercial time-lapse cams are (for this purpose) JUNK. They simply do not have high enough quality capability, less to do with how many megapixels, and more to do with the quality of the glass. Of course, regarding those exclusive "time-lapse" cams on the commerical market that seem to be the most advertised and sold for this purpose, thinking they only have 1.3 mp? That would be total junk for my purposes, no matter what the quality of the glass.

On the other hand those homebrews using real Sony camera's, set up for time-lapse, now there's something with a lot of promise.

That is the exact reason I am using a 12mp Sony camera, so you can zoom in and see what is there. With this unit you can have it on time lapse and if a deer walks by it will trigger the Pir AND FIRE A PIC. You can select movie mode for 15 sec or 30 sec videos and use it as a daytime only movie camera with true sound. Or you can set it up with the Slave flash turned on and use it as a Foodplot camera with 70' of usable flash in 24 hour mode.
