The biggest problem that needs fixing is the rope that connects the bottom and top for safety reasons. It's all kinked up after years of use, and as a result it interferes with climbing as it knots up. I don't see where they offer a replacement part for it. Anybody ever replace one of these?

Use a piece of parachute cord. It's soft and easy to use. It can be found in camo and weighs next to nothing.
Cut a piece 4 feet or so. That will let you reach as high as needed. The cord will not need to hold your weight. It only needs to be able to lift the bottom of your stand if it should fall or slip down the tree. Parachute cord is plenty strong for this. Tie good knots and burn the ends.
