Got they early this morning trying to beat the heat and rain . Let me just say it was a really nice course and the guys at B2B really put in some work ! I got paired up with two really nice guys and off we went .

I started off with a pinwheel 12 ( usually a bad sign for me to 12 the first target ) . I shot a few 10's followed by another 12 . I stayed at 4 up for a little while and then went on a twelve streak hitting 5 out of the last 8 targets to bring me to 14 up on the first round .

Second round started off good with me climbing up to 20 up . Then I made a solid shot "I thought " that ended up an 8 , almost a 5 . And I think that got my mental game all jacked up . I shot the rest of the round without another 12 and dropped two more 8's .

So I shot even on the second round and finished 14 up for the tournament .
Maybe that will be enough to win but I'm not holding my breath . I had a blast , but I definitely left alot of points on the table for the second round and if my score doesn't end up good enough I will feel a little discouraged .

On a side note here's a pic of a copperhead that was killed by the group behind us . Non snake killers don't flame me , this snake had to be taken out , being in such a high traffic area with around 100 shooters still to come down through there . Too many kids running around . The guys that killed it said they shot at it 7 times before killing it .

I would say if you don't win it, you will be top 5, and probably top 3 at that. That was a lot tougher course than last years, by a long shot.

Here's Crow's state shoot summary:

I got my butt stomped.

Just could not hit a groove today, and left with a pretty bad headache from the heat and my nerves were pushed beyond the limit.

For those that didn't go...it was a 30 target course. 15 targets on one side of the property, and 15 on the other. The first half of it, we made good time on. We had a group of 4 people, and shot it in about 2 hours, maybe even a bit less. We caught up to a slower group toward the last few targets or we would have been done sooner, but even that didn't really hold us back that bad.

Then we began the second half...and our luck on moving along pretty good, came to a screeching halt. It took us 4.5 hours to shoot the 15 targets on that side. So after being out in the 93 degree heat for 7 hours with nothing to eat and a few Poweraids and water, I just wanted to have it done so I could go to go someplace cool. My shooting really reflected this...the frustration of just sitting/standing and waiting to shoot targets. If it wouldn't have been so hot I don't think it would have bothered me but even at the ASA Pro/Ams, it doesn't take 4 hours to shoot 20 targets.

The shoot itself was ran great...nice lanes and good parking. They had put a lot of work into it from last year. They had folks coming around with coolers offering water or powerades to the shooters; and they tried to evenly balance the courses to where one side didn't have more shooters on it than the other. It wasn't that the 2nd course we shot had a lot of people on it....it was that the groups in front of us were super slow. I'm glad I brought my chair instead of my normal hip quiver!! That chair got broke in good today.

Thanks glad you had a good shoot we had over 140 shooters at one time today so yeah it was to say the least busy ...thanks to all who came out despite the heat ,hope to see everyone else tomorrow .
