My nephew and son are both lucky enough to have afternoon classes at college through turkey season. Both of them now have three longbeards down.
Cory (my nephew) invited Michael to go with him this morning to his honey hole. Michael text me at 730 saying it had been a great morning but that he thought it was over for him. Lots of gobbling and three jakes flew down in front of him, strutting and gobbling. Then 2 more birds start gobbling behind him. He manages to see two longbeards but can't do anything because of the jakes. Finally everybody wanders off except a lone hen feeding in a field. Michael eases up to watch the hen and spots a full fan 25 yards from him. He retrieves his gun which he had stood up against a tree and takes out that bird. After having nothing good happen for 5 consecutive days he had one handed to him. 17.5lbs, 11.5 bananna beard, and 1" spurs.
They are going to our honeyhole in the morning where one or both could tag out with a little luck.
