I have been reading with the car companies struggles... will NACAR be able to contimue.

One point I was interested in... (even as much as I love Nascar)
If the people of this nation has to fund a bailout for the auto makers.. should the auto makers be allowed to DUMP funds into race teams?

Since this is a NASCAR forum, I wont preach on my thoughts about the bailout mess.

But do you think Nascar could be on the way out?

No nascar will go on as normal, that said it has'nt been about the cars in a long time, the teams will scale back to compensate for the loss of factory help.i stopped watch much of it several years ago when they started treating some of the drivers diffrent, they would let some wreck others & say thats racing :( mike243

It will not only affect the auto companies , but the sponsors have already scaled back sponsorships .
Many teams have had to layoff employees to cut costs . I'm sure there will be many companies that will cut their sponsorships in NASCAR during these tough economic times .

i read today that dodge has will not back out and will continue to field cars in nascar. when a team as established as hendrick motorsports is laying off people, well its not a good sign.

I agree with ya'll.... one thing that bothers me is the fact there really isnt any factory cars fielded anymore. They are all fabricated, tube chasis, etc But I know the economic times are going to get worse, and sponsorship will decline. I think Nascar will continue no problem.

If the auto companies keep hurting financially, it will
turn into nothing but foreign cars racing.

The American automakers will not be expected to operate without advertising........now, how much of the extremely constrained budget they choose to put into racing, remains to be seen. Interesting thread though. Nascar is going to feel the pinch in fan attendance for sure..........
