With all the rain and more to come its a guaranteed that all my turkey hunting spots will be under water or not accessible this weekend for me and my nephew. So i was looking at the state land around and most are closed to quota hunts this year which include 5 of my go to spots from previous seasons...(still waiting on the explanation on that one). I was told natchez trace is high ground and likely to not be flooded. my question is the 75 mile drive worth it? Going in blind and dont know what the first tree branch looks like out there.

Wish I could help, never stepped foot on it. However, the good thing about public land birds is that they get pushed around so much that its fairly difficult to "pattern" them. I say find a high spot with little to no vehicle traffic around and listen, thats how I hunt LBL a lot.

and you have success @ LBL?.....never hunted there either

Haven't been in a few years. There are birds there. If you're in good shape you can get to them. A lot of hills and hollows.Look out for snakes I've seen a lot of copperheads there.

I have friends that hunt it and kill birds occasionally. I live in Mckenzie and I can be to their spots in 30 mins or less. Don't know about 75 miles.

im an hour drive from the sonic in mckenzie...we just plumbed a house out there a month ago...

I usually get into birds at LBL, lately I have seen more and more hunters though. I always try to find the largest area with the least roads, helps avoid running into another hunter.

I wish i could help. My dad hunts land that borders lbl but he is deer hunting. He sees turkey regularly while deer hunting. Good luck!
