Here are the latest photos from the farm. As far as which ones to shoot......we are trying to practive a little QDM but they all look mature enough to kill....So what score you think that 8 will bring? And should we really kill both?

I would guess the 8 point at right around 95"-100"

As far as if you should shoot or not is 100% up to you. I assure you many members on this forum would shoot both.

Smaller one isnt to his ears yet. Would let him walk. The other is up to you. My rule for shooting bucks is if you are willing to get him mounted then take him down. If there is any doubt in your mind then you should let him walk.

Up to you, they are both pretty bucks and even though its very hard to tell right now I would bet they are both at least 3.5 so if it makes you happy shoot, a good rule of thumb is when you first see it go with your first reaction

We are trying to start producing big deer on this farm,. Its the first oppurtunity to try something like this so we are going to be selective on which deer we kill. Its nice to see this many bucks in one place for a change. Would like to see one or two of those deer go 140 someday.....

Let em go, watch em grow :)

We have set a 4.5 year old or better standard for our farm. Seems to work well with us. Although it is a tough standard as some years I end up with 0 bucks killed. But it pays off. Good luck. Come up with something that keeps you satisfied and enjoying the experience.

I am by no means an expert on judging age.I do believe the photo of both bucks straight on tells me these are not over 2 1/2 years.

The chances of either deer ever reaching 140 is good if their food, their genetics are good and you give them 2 or more years to grow.

If they look big enough to you the take em.

I agree totally with everyone on letting bucks reach their full potential. That being said, you have to take into consideration each situation before you really know what that "potential" is. For example, in my case, I only have a couple hundred acres to hunt in one of my spots so those bucks might not make it through the season because I couldn't keep them from being shot on neighboring properties where those would be considered trophy bucks to some of the guys. The likelihood of them making another year isn't very hight so I would be more tempted to harvest one of those bucks on that piece of property. At the other I have closer to 1000 acres and would feel more confident in letting them go for another year. That being said, if you do shoot them.... you're 100% guaranteed he's not getting any bigger! Good luck!

I'd shoot the bigger one, ah heck I'd probably shoot the smaller one too. Way I look at it is I don't see many bucks around my hunting grounds and when I do they are all spikes and small fours or six's so if I got the opportunity I would. Do what makes you happy, that's why we get up early and sit in the cold deer woods for God knows how many hours.

I would give em both another year. I dont shoot a buck unless i am going to mount it. However last year i passed a wide 8 pointer with a bow. A week later the neighbors killed him with a muzzleloader. So you have a good season and shoot whatever makes you happy!
