i have a recurve bow, a browning wasp. the bow has no string and no other writing on it. id like to start piddling with it, any idea where to start?

I'd buy a string and some arrows.

I don't know about Knoxville, but in Maryville there is a shop called "Bowhunter's Pro Shop". I know that he can make you a string if he doesn't have one that will fit it. I haven't done much business with them yet, but they seem like good guys.
I had him make a string for a little bear recurve bow I had for $25.

If I remember the string should be 4 inches shorter than the overall length of the bow.

EXAMPLE::: if you put a tape measure on the limb tip & measure it straight acoss to the other tip and its (just say) 55 inches, the string should be 51 inches.

But DO NOT !!! put a fast flite string on that bow, it'll shatter the limb tips....ask me how I know this.

Hers some food for thought http://www.flemishbowstrings.com/

Also have a look here for anything recurve or long bow. http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
