I just acquired a savage 110 in 243. It's a pre accutrigger. I'm wanting to work on the trigger and need to replace the wire inside of it. Everything I've read they've used .040" piano wire. Anyone know where to get just a few inches of it or have some laying around.

Nooooo, I checked some stainless steel stuff I have, not even close.

I know some folks who are Savage addicts, maybe they have something laying around. I'll PM ya if I get lucky. Other than a 110 model, anything I should be knowing?

Thanks dh. I've read a bunch there. That helped me determine to change the wire. All the wire I've found online comes in a pound roll. It's relatively cheap but I don't need 200 feet of it lol

Numrich has the part, price unde 5 bucks.

Here's a link. THis is for a 110B i did not know which 110 you have so I just guessed.

Call Numrich, they are nice folks. BTW, that is a "Trigger Pull Adjusting Spring" which makes searching a hair easier.

Thanks for the link. I have no idea what letter it is. It's not stamped on it unless I over looked it. I'll check em out

Dave. I checked out the link. I think it's a replacement to what I have. I'm wanting to go to a smaller wire which should help me on the trigger pull. But I worked on it earlier and did some honing. I'm not sure a different wire will help. I took the wire completely off and the pull felt the same. I don't have a gauge but can borrow one to see what actually changes. I did notice with out the wire I could get the firing pin to fall by closing the bolt hard. It's a piece I can't do with out. If you talk to your savage buddies ask what I can do to help out. Any help is appreciated.

I looked around again last night to make sure I was correct that the accutrigger wouldn't fit in the pre models. From what I learned the receiver is machined differently to accept the newer assemblies. I have a 2012 model 10 and the safety is different than the pre model. But after your offer I pondered on it and was thinking I might could take the trigger itself and swap them. Figure out how the spring could work. I've got some leads at the moment but if they fall thru I may take you up on the offer and see if I can make it work.

Go over to Savage Shooters site. Them Savage addicts will lead you in the right direction.

Timney and Rifle Basix make aftermarket triggers which will easily give you the pull you want but will cost you around $100. I put a Timney in a Stevens 200 which worked out great.

If I had the money I would order one. But that's not feasible at the moment. If nothing else works tho I will. I don't like a heavy trigger. I know timney products are good tho.

Just be sure to check it over good when your done. I had bought a couple of 110 without the accutrigger that have been tampered with that when you closed the bolt or slam the bolt the firing pin would hit.

I ran into this trying to lighten it up. It's currently at 5lbs. I'd like to achieve 2 if it's possible.

I've been working on this trigger after studying a few a sites. I found a thinner wore than what I had to start with but it's still not as small I'd like. I got the trigger down to around 2 pounds but sometimes it goes up to 2.5-2.75. Anyone know why it's not consistent or is that just how they how. I had a scare last night when I lost all safety functions but finally got it like it should be
