So I've never even tried to catch trout that TWRA dumps in waterways but my son wants to give it a whirl.
Can yall give me tips? Bait? Presentation?
Corn? Powerbait? How soon after they dump them do they bite?

Power bait egg on a no. 8 hook with a small split shot (about a size 7) 16-20" above it. Cast across the current and let it drift down; if you don't get a hit retrieve slowly. If you are in a canoe or small boat, drift your bait along. Tons of fun. Oh - and light rod with 4-lb test line.

We were at the Caney one day had the bite was V E R Y slow all morning.
Just so happens a truck backed in and started dumping trout in the river right below the dam.

We were about 50 yards downstream from where they were dumping them.
We caught 5 or 6 trout within the next 20 minutes or so.
Dunno if it was the fish they were stocking or not but seemed awful likely to me.

In the lake at Martin when they stock them the best thing I have found is a yellow roostertail.
The bite will let you know whether you need to speed up or slow down on your retrieve.
THE most important thing is to use fluorocarbon line.

Canned sweet corn or power eggs. #6 baitholder and you can alternate between a bobber and a split shot to see how the trout like it.
