Never heard this kind

Sounds like a kee kee to me. Young turkeys do it a lot in the fall, sounds a little different than that. But I'd say that's a hen kee-keeing

Yeah, it's a kee-kee, but not a full one and not as high-pitched as usual.

It's almost like she knows the hen she has been hearing (the hunter) should be right there, and she's looking for her.

Real turkeys can make some of the worst turkey calls I've ever heard. There have been numerous occasions where I thought someone had slipped in on me with the bad calling, only to have a real turkey step out soon after.

I know what your saying, but to me the way you tell the difference most between people and turkeys, is frequency of calling, cadence, tempo, calling from the same place or whatever.

I've heard them kee kee but this one sounds different. Maybe to much kee keeing... She is losing her voice? :tu:

A kee kee or kee kee run that you hear in the fall will be really clear sounding. Almost like somebody whistling.
But the kee Kees hens do in the spring can sound like anything. And they don't go around just doing it all the time. I wouldn't know what it means as far as her vocabulary other than a "where are you"

Sometimes in the spring of your close to hens you will hear really quiet and sweet sounding kee kees along with some yelps whines and purrs as they are feeding on grasshoppers and such.
