New #1 Preseason FPI

Seminoles return all 11 offensive starters, including running back Dalvin Cook, to a unit that has ranked in the top 25 of efficiency in each of the last four years. Florida State also has had four straight top-10 recruiting classes, according to ESPN's Class Rankings, including the No. 1 class in 2016, No. 2 class in 2015 and No. 3 class in 2014.

The top five teams in the 2016 Preseason FPI 3.0. LSU fell from the No. 1 spot in Preseason FPI 2.0.

Phil Steele is pretty well respected, cur. His annual college football preseason magazine is awesome and he writes all the team previews himself. He's not Nostradamus, but the guy puts out high quality, objective analysis.

I just realized the list that baddnole posted are ESPN rankings. Phil Steele's own predictions will come out later. Phil provides ESPN with data on returning starters and injuries. ESPN decided to update their FPI rankings based on who's returning and who's not.

After spring practice, there have been a number of updates to returning starters, which we receive courtesy of Phil Steele, and schedules that necessitate a fresh set of rankings and projections.

Les miles better hope LSU falls a little more. He doesn't need high expectations when he might not be able to fill them.
I still think LSU has a great team just no QB again this year. 17 returning starters for LSU. Hopefully the new DC can get off to a good start.

As far as the vols go. If butch doesn't win the east or atleast beat Florida he might be in the hot seat.
