Looking to buy a new or new to me 20 gauge semiauto shotgun for turkey hunting before next year. Wanting all black synthetic. Considering Remington 1100 and benelli M2. Any other brands that I'm overlooking ? What's y'all gun of pick in 20 gauge? Really wanting to give the TSS loads a try with a 20 gauge .

There are a few things to consider IMO.

What are you wanting out of it? If you wanting it for the light weight then rule out the 1100 as it is on the heavy end of options. The lightest ones out are the M2, stoeger 3020 and the franchi affinity at 6lbs or under.

Are you ever wanting to go with a speed bead mount and a fast fire on it? If so rule out the affinity as I don't think anyone has put a mount on those yet.

The sx3 is also an awesome option and most have found it to pattern like a dream! However it to is in the heavier side

IMO the m2 is the best 20 out there but it fits me perfect which is why I say that. It may not fit you as well and you may like the stoeger or others better that have a wider forend.

If you get into hand loading then all will give you awesome patterns so that part makes them all equal to me

There are a lot of guys running TSS and M2 20s so the data is easy to come by and may save you time on patterning and choke data.

Again all just my own opinion.

Stoeger m3020

If cost don't matter, M2 all the way. If you want to go all out, you can get a custom M2 from Benelli already tricked out to the max. A friend of mine (in a different tax bracket) just ordered one. http://www.benelliusa.com/node/1616

A lot of guys who shoot TSS in the Weatherby SA-459 rave about them as well. http://www.weatherby.com/sa-459-turkey.html

I shoot an 870 in the 12 and 20 and they serve me fine. Good luck with your final decision.

Weatherby SA-459 is a great choice.. I love mine and in my opinion it's the best value for what you get.. $500 I love mine and my M2 has taken a back seat to it. Comes fully camo, pistol grip, drilled and tapped with a rail.. Shots and handles great. I'd highly recommend..

I can't remember exactly what I paid for mine but I know I got the receipt somewhere. Whitakers guns is usually the cheapest place around. Bud of mine just bought a Franchi Affinity 20ga camo $600.30 out the door.. He's a lucky dog for sure!!!

I have the Affinity 20ga and have been very satisfied with how it handles and how it performs on paper(haven't shot a turkey with it yet). Set it up for my fiancé to hunt with when she goes with me but honestly.....I've carried it more than my 870 this year just due to the difference in weight. Good gun.

Prob gonna be out on the performance shop benelli ($2500). The weatherby is a very nice gun I had overlooked and lighter than the 1100. Think I'm gonna give the weatherby a try. Will be aggravating y'all again soon about loads and chokes. Thanks

Some very good threads with lots of good info on the sa-459 on Ol Gobbler. Those threads are what steered me to buying one.

I would look at the Mosseberg Sa 20 Turkey thug edition. It comes drilled and tapped and with the rail. The gun comes with a beard buster sight and I have been nothing but pleased with it. I shoot a carlsons .575 and the federal heavyweight #7. Gun is like a feather and will out perform my 12 at 40 yards all day long. The turkeys do not like it though!

I have the M2 and love it. However, I will admit I had a bit of a time patterning it with regular loads. When I switched to TSS, I found that it shot very well, and I'm thrilled with it.

To me, the M2 has a better balance than the Franchi Affinity. I think the Affinity is a fine gun, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone if they like the fit/feel.
