I'm new to the site and new to TN. I'm in the process of getting a new bow and not sure what I want. Not trying to spend more than $600 or $650 on the bow alone but I want a nice one. I plan on going to Bass Pro this weekend or next to check some out. Any suggestions before hand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site!

The only advice I will give you, is keep everything on the tableshoot every bow, from as many different manufacturers, that you possibly can. Then you will know when you find the right one for youwhat feels best buddy, may or may not feel right to you. Good Luck!

look and handle every bow you can than buy it off archery talk for 200-400 less than a new because someone decided they wanted a different one

+1 on the used bows from ArcheryTalk. You can save a ton and get a bow that has years of use left in it.

I bought a 2 year old Matthews that looked like it had never been shot, for less than 1/2 price.

I just noticed that you are in Dickson. There is a good archery shop in Dickson. I'd start there. They will size you correctly and may have a trade in bow you like.

Check the Dickson Sportsman Store first, they are usually really good to deal with and will steer you in the right direction. I will tell you for the price you are looking at, I love my Bowtech Assassin. Whole package for $599 or so.

AT Classifieds is a great place to get one.
Another place is eBay. Plenty of new bows on there for good prices especially last years models.

I wouldn't even entertain the thought of buying one from basspro JMO.

If you are going to get one at BPS, I have shot the Diamond Outlaw bow and it is perhaps one of the best bows I've shot in a long time...of ALL the big named bow companies out there. I thought it shot better than its parent companies (BowTech) flagship bows for the last two years. It shot WAY better than the Insanity and Invasion IMO. It felt smoother drawing and shooting than the flagship Mathews Helim and last year's Z7 Xtreme. If I were wanting a decently fast single cam bow (330 fps) I would give it a good hard look. $549 brand new...and that's with a sight, arrow rest, stabilizer, quiver, and sling.

There are only 3 bows I've shot that I thought were better...and none of them are even close to it in that price range. The closest two were the Strother Wrath and Elite Answer. I just purchased the Answer. The other was the Mathews Jewel...and it was $900 vs the other two at $700.

I'm also kinda of tall, about 6'3 with long arms so this probably will narrow my choices down bit.

I feel you! But look at it this way, our bows can shoot faster than people with short draw length.

With $600 you can't go wrong with the Hoyt Rampage XT.

Would I need a longer bow with more brace height? And what about the cams... single or hybrid?

No. You can shoot any bow as long as it can adjust to your draw length. I'm just an inch taller than you so your probably going to need 30" draw.

-Edit- I would buy from a proshop so they can set you up and you'll know it's right.

can i recommend the hoyt rampage XT...less than your price you are looking for an also have a 50 rebate right now. I love mine.
