After reading many positive reviews, I decided to buy an aluminum call from Lights Out Custom Calls (Wendall Rye). The call I decided on is a bead-blasted anodized aluminum over glass in a yellowheart pot.
Without a doubt, this is my new favorite call. The yelps start high, break clean, and end with a nice rasp. This call will make a great locator call, but also plays soft with nice clean yelps, clucks, and purrs.
Also, I really like how the "honey pot" design fits in my hand as opposed to pots with sharper edges.
The call comes with and sounds best with a dymondwood striker. He makes a great striker, but I found another dymondwood striker at the convention that I like a little bit more. If you don't have a dymondwood striker, you need to get one as they sound great on any surface.
I included my favorite strikers in the picture (left to right): Black Locust, Dymondwood, Persimmon, and Purpleheart- the two on the right are Lights Out strikers.
