New Cuddeback Cams????

My opinion is Cuddeback puts most of their money in advertising instead of producing a quality cam at a fair price.

I'll never buy another Cuddeback after they screwed over so many people with that "No Flash" model a couple years ago.

And too many better cams on the market now at a lower price.

Friends don't let friends buy Cuddeback. ;)

My '05 Cuddeback was awesome for several years! Just wondering if they've resolved their quality issues. I read were they have been developing this new cam for 3 years before putting it on the market! Their claiming 1/4 second trigger speed and 1 year battery life... not bad for a cam barely over 200 bucks! Looks good on paper anyway! lol

Cuddeback made GREAT cams pre '06. Have they resolved their quality issues? I haven't seen that proven yet.

Althought they don't always get it right, "Chasingame" remains the best source I've found to get some "somewhat" independent "pros & cons" of most of the trail cams on the market. If "Chasingame" points out some cons: Beware.

Anyone seriously thinking about buying a Cuddeback should completely read this analysis, and then compare it to their analysis of other cams:

The below is just a short excerpt of the 2011 Chasingame analysis on this Cuddeback:
Here are some of the positive traits. Trigger time is very fast, flash is pretty good, picture quality is good but not great, 15 second min delay, camera does video, camera does time lapse, camera is switch based for easy setup, and camera has an advertized great battery life.

Here are some negative traits, Warranty, company had pushed their version until we pointed out the deficiency and then they made a change??. Mounting bracket is very flimsy, Sensing is very narrow and does not cover 90% of the cameras field of view. small hard to read print and very small knobs. open orifice for insects to enter part of the camera, transition IR cut filter clunk, no 800 phone service to customer service. strong company push to make every issue to be handled on line including warranty. Long on hold waits to speak to customer service on the one non toll telephone number they have for this purpose.

Everything above is strong consumer concerns and facts that have been reported as we see them. This company has had a following in the past and there are a few that just will not accept any information outside of their own. We only report and the decision to purchase should be your own.

By comparison, below is Chasingame's recent analysis of the 2011 Stealth Cam Delta 8 which is $140 from Cabela's.

Not saying this 2011 Stealth Cam Delta 8 is a "better" cam than the Cuddeback, just different, and may be a better value since it's priced at $140.

x 2

Cuddeback's old "Non-Typical" 35mm film cams were, at the time, the cat's meow. As were their first couple versions of digital cams that came under the Cuddeback name. That's where they got their great reputation of the late 90's and early 2000's. That reputation did a 180 with the release of the 2006 Cuddebacks, particularly the relatively expensive "No Flash" model which was an engineering disaster that should never have gone to market.

Cuddeback's first digital offerings, the C1000 and C3000 were two of the best digital trail-cams ever made. Yet starting with the '06 No-Flash and through all their later models, quality control and "good engineering" have been nonexistent.

I agree with BSK's above comment. I "USED TO BE" a big fan of Cuddeback cameras. The C1000 and C3000 models were great (although expensive at $400 each).

However, the main problem I had with those cameras was that they only lasted about a year before they went "belly-up". I sent several cameras back for repair. Cuddeback's return/repair policy used to be great (no-charge, or minimum charge), but they quickly changed, charging their customers $100+ or offering $100 credit toward the purchase of their newer model.

I made the decision several years ago to cut my losses with the company and move on to something better.

I have an old capture that quit working ,took the 4 screws out and found all that green stuff around one of the terminals like a battery leaking.
Then I seen those 2 caps. that make it flash ,was very careful cleaning it ,1 cap is all this ole man can handle, believe me they hurt.
Works good now ...do not know for how long,I think their gasket around the door was the biggest prob. they had.
No where to put a decassant pack.
