How long should a string last?

If a string has no obvious wear, should it still be changed out every so many seasons?

I have no reason to change it,but if 5 years is replacement time, I should do it now.

If it's not showing any wear , you should also check to make sure it's not creeping and your ATA is still in spec.

My standard answer on this is "How often do you need to change your tires?" There is no one answer. Things like mileage and tire rotation play into it.

As already mentioned, it depends on things like how much you shoot and what kind of maintenance you do on your string and cable.

Don't you shoot a Mathews? There strings aren't very durable, and stretch really quick. Most stock strings are not worth a flip.

Think mine is already stretched.
Am wondering how much I am going to have to adjust if I get a new one?

proably early enough to do it,and dial back in.

A mamber here several months ago said he installed custom strings. Anyone remember his name?

Vapor Trail Archery makes a good string . I have used two of them for replacement strings on a couple of my bows .
