Looks like there's some pretty cool new trail camera technology hitting the market in 2016.

Moultrie is launching a new field modem that you can use with select Moultrie models to turn them into a cellular cam.

Spypoint supposedly has a new camera with a trigger speed of less than a tenth of a second. That's fast. They are also launching a combo solar/AA power system that sounds interesting, as well as a new cellular cam that you can set on video mode. When the cam triggers it will take a picture and e-mail to you and then record a video clip on the memory card. For someone like me who loves to use video mode, this sounds like a very cool feature.

Minox has a super slim camera coming out.

Reconyx is launching a new cam that looks like a surveillance camera.

Check out how thin the Minox is -

Here's a video about the new Moultrie field modem. They say it's compatible with most 2015 and 2016 Moultrie cameras. She says it's $199, which sounds pretty good. If you have more than one Moultrie camera you could buy one and move it around from camera to camera.

Wow, this new Reconyx Micro Fire sounds really cool. You can download your pictures remotely onto your phone or ipad. You just have to be within 100ft of the camera. Price is a cool $499....too much for me. Check it out -

The new Stealth G45NG, which is replacing my favorite cam from 2015 - the G42NG.

I saw the Minox at the ATA show and was impressed at how flat it was. It's flatter than some large tablets.

Trail cameras exploded this year at ATA. So did features and prices on many models. There were a lot of companies offering cheap $10 and $15 dollar monthly data packages with the upper end models that would transmit them to you smart phone. Cool stuff for sure,

Is the minox black flash?

I gotta tell you I was just day tripping and did not have time to look at each and everything that was there. Sorry.

There were certain priorities I had but I skimmed each and every booth and tried to take mental notes on the major stuff. The Minox stuck out in my head because of its size. The plethora of cameras that were there reminded me of the Beanie baby craze many years back. They were everywhere and everyone had one. Minox makes trail cameras?????? Who knew right?? Seems it's the fast growing segment in our marketplace.

cell cams have a bit to go before i dive in and invest in one....the concept is awesome but there are too many bugs from what ive read. also spots i hunt do get cell service...i did however seen where one cam sends a GPS signal to your phone either 1x/hour or 1x/ per day showing you where the unit was....very handy when cam is stolen

Those sound cool. But I wonder about that 1/10 trigger speed, unless you have it on burst mode, wouldn't that take a bunch of pics of just the deer's head?

Bushnell also has a new cell cam that you don't have to setup a cell contract with a carrier for. You pay monthly (with no contract) through bushnell for the monthly service. I think it was $10 per month. While talking to the rep, he was getting pics on his phone from behind his house. He pulled up the GPS feature, and it showed the exact tree the cam was mounted on in his back yard. Pretty cool tech.

Catman,
fast trigger speed would not necessarily mean loads of pics of the same thing. The recovery time would have a lot to do with it. The fast trigger speed will just keep it from missing whatever triggers it. Also, on most cams you can set it to only trigger every X number of seconds to help control the amount of pics it takes at one time.
