new trail camera

Nope..From my experience, the infared or red glow will scare the deer more than the white flash will.I sold all my infared cams and went back to white flash cams.I went from getting 500+ pics every 3 weeks,to getting less than 200 pics when I switched to infared cams, and of the deer pics I did get, they was all on alert and staring at the cam.The way I see it is,deer can relate the white flash from the camera to lighting, which is natural. But there ain't nothing natural to them that glows red. Thats my take on infared and white flash cams.

Cecil's observation makes sense to me, but I still have all red IR cams because I don't want people to see them flash. I mount mine at least 10ft high in a tree and angle them down over my Trophy Rock sites, which gets me lots of pictures and keeps most deer from seeing the red IR flash at night. However, angling them down does reduce the field of view for the picture. I think the best choice of camera technology depends on your circumstances. If your camera will be out of sight of people who might see it at night, then white flash may be the way to go right now. Black flash would be best, but right now you can't get a decent quality black flash camera for less than $170. With all of the competition in the trail camera market, I believe the black flash cameras will keep getting more affordable and soon they will be the logical choice for the average user.
