I had been getting tons of pictures of turkeys in my food plot leading up to opening day. Then first morning (granted weather was terrible) I saw nothing. Went Sunday after church and still saw or heard nothing. Does hunting pressure affect turkeys like it does deer or what??? My confidence is a little low. What do I do now?

1. Are you completely concealed and camouflaged?
- Turkey have 20x the eye sight of human, can see the reflection of UV off our skin. I use a blind.

2. Are you moving around a lot?

3. Do you have decoys? Which kind?

4. What type of call are you using, how often?

I hunt about 200 yards where they roost . I also hunt in a blind . Don't over call , if there working they will come to you . I love my slate call it's the only thing I use . WhAt kind of decoys you use? I use avian x jake and hen and there awesome . I had 6 gobblers come up at once yesterday within 40 yards . And the next thing is patience , I seen turkey's move all day long .

I wouldn't get discouraged. I hunted all weekend, and literally heard about 5 gobbles if that. I only saw 2 birds, both toms.....and killed both. I was more lucky than anything. If you use decoys try to set them up where you are in between where the decoys are and where they roost. I use decoys off and on, this weekend, I didn't use any. I had 1 bird pop out at 7pm, and made a few calls on the slate and he came to me after about 10 minutes. It was windy, cold, etc. I only saw him gobble once.

I hunt out of a blind most of the time, but when it's boring I'll get out and move on foot if I haven't seen anything for a couple of hours. Hit the slate every 100 or so yards and if you hear one it's in the area.

Turkey hunting isn't like deer hunting. They move and gobble all day long if the time's right. Obviously, it's good early in the morning, or later in the afternoon where they are going to roost, but they will move all day. You can hunt them off and on all day when the weather is right. Patience is the key and just keep at it. If you have pics of birds, they are there....you might just have to find them.

AS far as where they roost...if early in the morning, get as close to it as possible while dark in my opinion.

Thanks guys. I am completely concealed and hunt in a blind. I guess I need to work on my patience. I don't know the exact models of the birds I use. My father in law bought them and they were about 80 dollars from Bass pro. They look amazing
