When it comes to reloading, I'm a newby; green as they come. But I want to get into it. I want to reload for 6.5G.

Not counting bullet components, how much do I need to budget for the tools to do the job right? Assuming I get what I need and get setup to reload for the Grendel, what would I then need to reload for 270wsm?

I want to get into this, I feel like I'm already late to the party. I'm pretty sure this is what Santa will be bringing me this year. Any help and/or advice or guidance, is definitely appreciated.

This might be a good start.

Then powder, primers, projectiles will be the tougher items to procure currently. And a good reloading manual or three.

Thank you for that.
So the kit that you linked to, can handle both calibers I referenced without any additional tools? Anything else I need to get started? I thought it might cost me a grand or more to get going. This doesn't look bad at all.

Start with a manual. Read it a few times and decide if you want to chase that rabbit.

That link mup sent is a good deal on kit. You'll need die sets for each caliber, and possibly a few miscellaneous items but you'll be on your way to start loading.
Im a reader. I was looking at the reloaders Bible. Is this a good starting point for someone new, or is there a better starting point, in your opinion?

Couple things that kit is missing….
Trimmer. You'll eventually need one. They can be as cheap as $4-5 to $200+.

Tumbler. Not really needed, but I don't want my ammo looking like it shoots.

Calipers. You'll want a decent set, preferably a good set.

6.5 bullets are starting to show up. What you want to do is read up on the grendel and try to discover what bullet weight and type flies best, There may be two standouts.....or a dozen. If you are gonna kill deer you want to narrow your selections to those bullets that perform best at killing deer. Hornady makes a few, as does Nosler. Lots of folks like Sierra or Barnes or Berger. Go slow and be very direct and specific in what you are doing.

There is no such thing as "Just about". Everything is exact. It has to be that way because of what you are doing AND you want your work to be repeatable.

For your Grendel or 270WSM you need a set of dies (RCBS). A shell holder. Large rifle primers. A dial or digital caliper. A press. A scale.

It is a great hobby. Keeps you out of trouble.

Unless you use 7.62x39 brass, Grendel takes small rifle primers. The next question becomes do you use regulars or magnums, a lot of data out there uses magnum primers.

Lyman Reloading manual, Lee, Hornady, Speer...several to choose from.
I've got the Lee manual coming. Be here tomorrow. Down the rabbit hole I go...

Thanks for the help guys. I'm all ears for any and all advice, comments, and anything else relevant to helping me get started. All good stuff.

If at all possible, find someone local to help you. Ask questions. You might think it's dumb but losing your fingers or face is worser.
I don't think it's dumb at all. I'm a visual learner too. So, if anyone within an hour or so of Clarksville is setup to reload and wouldn't mind me coming by and picking their brain a little, and checking out their setup. Please PM me.
