Got a call yesterday from the man who owns the 115 acres right across the road from my house. He asked me if I would please come shoot of his #$%^* turkeys.

I told him I would try to make it over a time or two. If I still feel up to it, I plan to give it a try April 4, wigth the crossbow. I'll not mess with it opening weekend. He owns the ridge where all the turkeys that come into my yard roost.

Place is full of deer, too.

The biggest problems for me is deciding if (1) do I even want to go and (2) do I even want to shoot one. I have completed my grand slam-two with a bow, one with a muzzleloader, one with a rifle and sevetral with a shotgun. I don't eat them. I don't care much about hunting them and I have so many around here, it isn't much of a challenge to kill one. They have become so much of a nuisance most of the neighbors have started throwing rocks at them, trying to run them off. We are talking about close to 300 birds in three flocks.

You have to understand, I live in town, not on some farm. Witht he exception of the small farm across the road it is so populated, TWRA can't use their cannon nets because they are afraid they might shoot through a house.

I usually just sit on the patio and call them so they will gobble. There isn't much challenge to killing one.

Seems like there would be some kind of way for TWRA to trap and relocate them.

Sure hope a disease don't set in on them.

Oh and good luck, if you go and if you decide to kill one.

Probably about an hour's drive for me, I'd be happy to take some of his #$%^* turkeys, ditto what REN said :D

is it bad i keep checking my PM's to see if bowriter has sent me a message to come on over? hahahah i mean i live less then 2 miles from him and all...i mean it would be the neighborly thing to do right lol
