I went on maiden voyage with the long range home maid bullets. I was in search of seating depth, and found 3 acceptable choices. I annealed 100 pieces of Alpha 6BR-Ackley this morning to further tune with a ladder of 1 tenth increments in powder charge for each seating depth. I think I know the winner. I am 65 and have found excitement again, getting me up and running at such a grand hobby! I am thinking I have a good set of dies, from the results of day 1 @ 600 yards.

Shot another 3 shots in the 1.1" range, so seating depth is nailed down .002" in the lands. I got in a hurry loading, and got my powder and seating mixed up. Still came away with good info. The group was all vertical, so will test powder in .02 increments from 30.22 to 30.32. It's in there somewhere...lol. Barrel had 68 rounds on it before yesterday, it has an awesome character, it does not copper foul.

That is some great shooting.

The many variables that can go into making the perfect recipe us one reason why I load my own. It is for sure a great hobby and in my case a money saver.
