Nick Saban tightens up on ALABAMA offense

Re: Nick Saban tightens up on ALABAMA offense

:D

Then why did he not "tighten up" and cut him loose four weeks ago ;) :D ?

It would interesting to know what made Saban realize that he screwed up by keeping him around.

What is meant by "Tightens up"?

Did you see the Washington Game Saturday???? :bash: ALABAMA offense played LOOSE AS A CABOOSE.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nick-saban ... 23938.html

Interesting to note. Alabama is 14-0 this year, on a 26-game win streak and 40-3 overall since Kiffin began calling plays in 2014.

40-3 and that Offensive display this Saturday?

IDK I am not there. It might be a knee jerk reaction from Saban but clearly ALABAMA was not firing on all cylinders on offense. I think most of the offense problems laid at the hands of Hurts Himself. He seemed shaky right out of the chute and never really seemed to gain any ground. He appeared to be the cause of most of the near turn overs and problems on Sat. Again not knocking him necessarily.. but he is the weakest link on the team. Mainly because of his lack of experience. Another year or two he is going to be a monster.

I see this Kiffin matter as very smart on Saban part. Had he fired Kiffin two weeks ago and the Washington game went down the way it did everyone would be blaming Saban for that display. Instead he gets to put the mule on Kiffins back and fire him. Sure seems like Saban Knew that Kiffin was leaving for a HC job all season long and has been planning something like this with Sarkisian waiting in the bull pen.

Saban pulls of a National Championship Monday then he looks like the Master Jedi that he is and everyone will say he knew exactly what he was doing. If Clemson wins then he gets to blame Kiffin for the disruption and get the monkey off his back. Simple as that. I don't agree with the Blame the Kiffin card myself. I certainly think it comes at a bad time and wish it all could have waited till 1/10 but it is what it is.

See my post right below yours. Should explain it all.

Here is my quote

Good try.

Actually, it appears Kiffin was trying to turn some of the lower rated guys Bama had committed to his new school. And, Saban didn't take kindly to Kiff's press conference.

Which guys ? The only thing we have been hearing about is that he took a couple of the younger staffers that were his buds with him. None of which that will be missed.

On a positive note Clemson will have ZERO advantage and have ZERO film of Sark running the offense at ALABAMA. Not only are they gonna have to watch the films at ALABAMA but they are going to have to watch the USC films when SARK was there and try to pick up on some common denominators. Its going to be time consuming for Clemson.

Re: Nick Saban tightens up on ALABAMA offense

Bama didn't get rid of Kiffin because he was trying to steal recruits. What Bama recruit would go to Kiffin's school??? None.... :tu:

They got rid of Kiffin because Bama doesn't let it's assistant coaches do interviews. He did two since taken the new job and the comments in those interviews got him run off.

"I don't recall a happy moment," he told reporters in Atlanta. "I just recall the ass-chewings.

"This will come across wrong," he told Thamel. "But it's like dog years. Three years is like 21."

EXACTLY to the stealing recruits. That's just people stirring the pot IMHO.

As for Kiffin remarks? Yeah that could not have set well but if BAMA Offense would have had a great offensive game Saturday against Washington do you think we would still be having this same discussion????

Nope.... I believe Lane's comments and his sub-par performance in the N/C played a factor. The recruiting debate is not relevant.

Fair enough. I think Saban is smart enough to swallow his pride when he is winning and skip over that stuff myself. Especially when you are fixing to go into a National Championship. I personally think it came down to Kiffins performance issues and perhaps his general overall attitude like his head was not in the game moreso than what he said. IMHO.

So, Sark is calling his first game ( the national title game at that) in less than a week and Saban is going to green light installing a new offense no one has ever seen? Yeah, shaking things up like that gives Bama their best chance of winning.

Re: Nick Saban tightens up on ALABAMA offense

I'm thinking the offense will have not many changes. Give Bo the ball and let the "D" play. Let's face it. Bama played sub-par against OSU and blew them out.

He's the genius, haven't you heard :D ?

I have a suspicion Bama will be VERY run heavy!

That's what alot of the fans have been asking for all year. Saban said after the Washington game that was their intention (to run the ball more) but some of the corners prevented that so they had to make a adjustment.

Hurts has the ability to throw the ball. I think Saban sees that in him and wants to develop that for years to come. The more time he gets throwing the ball the bigger the threat ALABAMA can be. Develop Hurts throwing ability and ALABAMAS ability to throw the ball over a period of time?? Yep I would call that brilliant.

Can you imagine ALABAMA with a quarterback like Hurts matured that can run the ball , Throw the ball and run the ball himself??? OMG he is going to be a monster in years to come. Look for Heisman in his future.

Pretty much the way I see it. If ALABAMA can get a couple of Offensive TD's out of BO and possibly Hurts running one or two in himself and BAMA defense doing what they do... It could be a very lopsided game yet.

Re: Nick Saban tightens up on ALABAMA offense

Somebody has been smoking some Alabama Crack. The guy that has run an offense that is 40-3 is fired. Takes some of his staff with him 9 days before the national championship. They put in a retread to ramp up a new offense? "They won't be missed". Really? Good luck with that.
Maybe I am not up on the football lingo. But Saban tightening up a loose as a caboose means diddly squat. Kif got fired because the players performed badly and Saban thought the game plan should have adapted to the strengths of the team at the time. Saban thought his head was not in the game and it was time to cut bait. If you think Alabama will play any different from the way they have all year you are crazy. They will call the same plays they have all year. Blocking schemes will change to adapt to the Clemson defense but that is all.
