I have been looking at the Nikon Turkey Pro Scope and wondered if anyone had one and what do you think about it? What is your full gun and ammo setup with it. Range? Thanks.

I just put one on the 870sm my wife will shoot this year. It's supposed to have 5" of eye relief so that is a plus. Having the 2 range circles in the center makes it busy, but the thought behind them could be a plus in knowing if he is in range or not when hunting open fields. Center the pattern, then whatever is inside the circle is going to be a potential hit. Glass is very clear, just need the warmer weather to break it in.....

Going to run a Rhino .660 and Hevi 3.5/2.25/7's through it.... As far as a "range" just depend on the pattern, I like to keep shots inside 40 yards if at all possible, but will take a 45 if pattern proves possible.

Hmmnnn, wonder why they were discontinued? Maybe not enough sales? Grizzly, would love to hear your results when you get out and sight it in.

I was gonna get one because of the long eye relief but with my b square mount i couldnt slide it any further forward than the leupold i had. It kept hitting my nose when i stepped up to the 2 7/16 nitros. I am gonna try an eotech 512.

I have the same setup as Grizzly.

At what range do you do the initial sight in? That is a great price, think I will go ahead and pick one up.

Good data point because I was thinking about a b square mount. I am thinking about purchasing a new 870 supermag, maybe they come new drilled and tapped?

Yes i believe the new ones are drilled and tapped which would help tremendously.

I think they are cheaper than that at Natchezss.com

Thanks, just priced one $146.01 to include shipping. Just need to figure out what style camo I am getting on the 870 and I am going to purchase!

Natchez SS is a great place to purchase things at wholesale, however, they do not sell to the public in TN, GA or AL. The reason is they wholesale to small businesses in these states and they agreed to not compete with them. I have ordered stuff from them and had it shipped to my sister's in AR. Just an FYI.

Taken straight from their website: Offer not valid in Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama and Shipping is not available for Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama.

Thanks, did not even notice that. I am sure I will get a cabelas free shipping or something so I should be able to get close to that price.

My 870 shur shot came drilled and tapped actually already had a rail as well due to comi ng with a red dot.
I started the sight in process with some cheap 2 3/4 nuber 7s at like 15 yrds. I ended up wasing a box of heavy 7's getting it dialed in perfect though.
I am not that experienced sighting in scopes though may want to check old gobbler.

I bought one last year at the NWFT show and used it last season and loved it. The deal Cabelas has on them right now is a heck of a deal and worth the money.

Maybe 10 yards with a field load or similar, just to get a good idea where the POA/POI is and then move the crosshairs of the scope until everything is "on". then I will move back to 20 and try again.

Then finally at 40 with a turkey load shoot and make sure my center-mass of the pattern matches the scope crosshairs.

I started off with a B-Square out of necessity.... if you are thinking about a new turkey gun for optics... FORGET THE B-SQUARE and get a D&T'ed gun to begin with. After shooting alot and/or needing to remove the trigger assembly, you take those screws out enough, the heads will start to strip out.... guess what, when you remove the mount, you may need to recheck zero too. AND, if your not using a pistol grip type stock, that B-Square mount WILL eventually rip your index finger open, if not with the first 3.5" turkey load.... I learned all the above from personal experience, also why I ordered a shur-shot stock for that gun soon as I was done patterning it the first time. Save yourself the hassle and get a D&T'ed gun.

Not all the new 870's come drilled and tapped from the factory. But the 3.5" & some shurshot models that are for turkey's or predators should all be drilled and tapped. Dicks Sporting Goods has the Bone Collector edition that is also D&T'ed and they have their own exclusive camo pattern on it.

Out of the 2, I would go with the second one..... If you are going to be shooting heavy turkey loads, you want something that will hold up to the recoil....

I went with the Leupold 1" PRW Rings.... they worked very well and had a nice fit... I feel they are more secure as well under the recoil.

Leupold 1" PRW Rings

J525, have you ordered your scope yet? If not, send me a PM, I have to tell you something if your interested.
