Saw 2 jakes well over 100 yard across a field. I crouched down but one saw me. Slowly but surely they both made their way up to no more than 20 yards from me and started putting, but didn't run off until I jumped up and scared em. Maybe the fact I was holding a camera and tripod in front of my face or maybe they were just dumb cause they were jakes. I don't know but I thought it was kind of funny to watch.

Danger to turkeys come from above their line of sight not below it.....David Hale taught me years ago you can belly crawl in tall grass and shake your hat a gobbler and he will come check it out as long as you stay below his line or sight......There is yalls tip for the day!!!! Please don't tell anyone...... :o

have you tested this theory? I guess it was true of the jakes I saw, at least

David Hale has been hunting "pet" turkeys for too many years now, trying to make money off all the crap him and Harold try to push. I bet they would not try something like that on LBL ground or any other pressured gobblers, for that matter ;)
you'd risk getting shot trying that on public ground.

I know what your point was, but I figured I would add that you don't want to get yourself shot. Everyone here already knows you hunt and kill the most wary, pressured gobblers on the planet.

Cowman, it's very obvious you think highly of your turkey hunting/killing ability and that's fine...however if you think K&H can't get it done you are kidding yourself!!! Their business strategy has nothing to with their ability to kill birds, heavily pressured or not. I've always heard if you can call up birds and kill them at LBL "after" the quota hunts, then you can anywhere. These guys make it look easy, I've seen it too many times. I'd put them two , both in there 60's now, up against anybody anywhere calling turkey's to the gun.. I'm not talking about bushwhacking, decoying, fanning, etc, I'm talking about calling them in to the barrel and I dont mean 50 yds either... These guys have forgot more about birds than most of us will ever know, but anyhow my point is they deserve the respect they have earned over the years in the turkey woods... If you don't think so, then you are wrong.... Once again their business dealings don't have squat to do with what I'm talking about, it's really none of our business.......

x2 on Harold & David. I would put them up against anybody. I'm not saying they are the best ever, because there are great turkey hunters both past and present. But, they are on the same sheet of paper as the greats.

Completely missed my point, as usual. You've hunted "heavily' pressured turkeys on public ground that gets pounded. How many of those gobblers would come check you out if you waved your hat at them in the middle of a field, or anywhere else, for that matter, regardless if you were above or below their line of sight. Many of these turkey hunting "personality' types, like Knight and Hale, cut their teeth on public ground gobblers. They were good turkey hunters and made names for themselves. Amazes me how many of them feel the need to "sell out" to the commercial industry, to keep that name going. One thing I pride myself on, is not being able to be bought, for any price ;) Headed to the woods boys. Going to hunt a little later than I like this evening, to beat the heat. It's hot as balls out there :)

Completely pompous, as usual.

Wow, you're full of yourself. I can't read this forum any more without hearing about your greatness hunting the heavily pressured turkeys in your area that apparently nobody else can kill but you. Everyone here likes to talk about hunting turkeys and I thought it was more about helping each other out, but you just spend all your time trying to tell everyone you're the best. :bash:

Never said David and Harold weren't certified killers, in fact, if you reread my post, you will see that I made reference to them cutting their teeth on LBL and being good turkey hunters. Used to enjoy watching the old Knight and Hale's ultimate hunting show year's ago. Many of the hunts showcased were old school "in the woods" turkey hunts, on LBL in particular. When is the last time you seen either one of them hunting anything other than private land without the help of "Pretty Boy" and pop up blind. I'm sure they are still great hunters, but they have strayed from their roots, at least on tv :)
They hunt each and every year on heavily hunted public ground.. Please don't confuse what's "made for t.v." with what they can do....they do leave the cameras at home some, however they do have contractual obligations to fill. A man such as yourself, at least as you portray yourself, would really enjoy getting to know these guys.. They are as good as gold as people, but very lethal in the turkey woods either together or separate. Actually Harold would rather fish and David leans more towards doing the Lord's work these days!!!

I'm sure they are great guys, but personally, I couldn't look up to a "turkey hunter" who would rather fish during turkey season. Just me though :) I'll tell you who does impress me , that's Chris Parrish and Mr. Parrot. I actually met them at a camp back home in Florida. Them boys are also very deadly, anytime, anywhere.

They both sat under K&H for quit sometime.... Guess that's just a coincidence......I'm getting the feeling you may be too young to appreciate these guys....I really don't care if you like them or out, but I'm not going to sit here and just let you run them down. I'll defend them to the end because I have that much respect for them and what they have done for this sport that we all are so passionate about..although I don't know him personally I'd say Will Primos was cut from the same clothe as K&H... I have met Preston Pittman and I'll thro him in there as well..

Is it true that Harold Knight lost 7 sons in a car wreck? That would be unimaginably horrible.....

Not true.... They used to hire high school kids to assemble calls after school..7 of their employees, which prolly either kin or good friends of the family, left to get something to eat one evening and were involved in a terrible accident in which they were all killed...Cadiz is a very small close knit community, most everyone was effected in one way or the other..

No more wary or heavily pressured than the gobblers on Yanali and the other public ground YOU hunt.
I don't brag about my public land turkey calling prowess. I hope I don't get older and become so arrogant when I'm a really good hunter one day. I hope to be humble and help others out without beating my chest on some Internet forum everyday. I know I'm not the most humble guy here but I try to be. Cowman I'm sure I can learn a lot from you about hunting pressured turkeys, but you really come off as an arrogant braggart

I remember reading about that in the past. That is sad.
I grew up idolizing Harold and David. I wore their VHS tapes out. I always imagined what it would be like to meet them and how the conversation would go. When I finally got the opportunity I couldn't hardly talk at all. They both are two of the finest. I would love to go turkey hunting with them.
