Does anyone see an effect of turkeys moving off after fields are sprayed before planting? I have noticed on my place in Ky, that they seem to move off the property after spraying and slowly come back weeks later. I assume the vegetation isn't palatable anymore and the insects aren't available for feeding. This year the place was loaded with gobblers prior to spraying, but I only heard one (was on adjacent property) a little over a week after spraying.

Since the later season start, spraying might actually help on my farm a little. By the opener there were already fields 3ft tall or more and the birds seem to avoid them almost altogether. They actually use them more once the chemical knocks'em back.

They abandon my crop fields after they get nuked to terminate the winter cover crop (usually late April). Just nothing for them to eat. They will cross them, but don't linger in them like before spraying.
