North East Tennesse Turkey Hunting....

I am leaving in the morning on a service call in Northeast TN a little town call Watagua its around Johnson City. I would like to squeeze in a turkey hunt but have never been it that area to hunt. In know that Cherokee is close but have no idea where to even start any suggestions. Any other public land that is close.

I would take my stuff and ask around where you are going on your service call. Finding turkeys in that area really isn't a problem. Very possible to get to hunt private land for a day or so. I have lived in NE Tenn all my life and have never heard of the town of Watauga but I assume it will be in Carter County since Watauga Lake and river are there.

Watuaga is sort of between Piney Flats and JC and Elizabethton.

Cherokee WMA is about your only option, but there are MANY places to hunt. Take shopson's advice, maybe you'll get lucky and someone will put you on birds.
