I've covered almost 6 miles of woods and haven't found but 1 hen( I spooked her) and heard 1 gobbler. I can't find any scratches, tracks, or anything.

I thought when the rain moved out this morning they would be gobbling good but nothing. Then on my drive out I seen 4 hens and 2 jakes.

Maybe I need to find some new woods.

Is there certain terrain features Turkey like more than other, what can I look for to maybe find some sign?

like most wood creatures they need standard things - Food/water/cover/roost areas. This time of year they will like open wooded areas with acorns still and fresh green undergrowth. As it warms they will be hitting more of the fields for bugs and worms. If you can find areas with all of those things you should be golden IF there is a population in the area.

That is turkey hunting. You at least have seen birds. Open woods are tough to move through right now without them seeing you. Six miles is just getting warmed up.

My successes increased exponentially once I realized that I wasn't married to a certain place to turkey hunt, and that it was OK to move around :D !

Me and a friend of mine hunted all morning and never heard a gobble. We saw some in a field but they had hens and didn't want to play.

Glad I'm not the only one. Struggling. I have a decent flock on the property next door to mine but CAN NOT get them to come up the hill to my side. Trying to get my daughter on one and it's frustrating driving an hour away not to hear or see a thing after walking miles only to come home to them in the neighbors field.... who wont let us over there lol

I'm not really getting to hunt and don't see much relief in that. That's definitely not the start I wanted.
