So last season was my first ever, and I have to say I came pretty close to getting my first bird as well. Well, my wife's aunts family has sold I think the land I was allowed to hunt on so now I am not sure where I will go turkey hunting. I can imagine the public lands I have access to around here get hammered with people huntin for birds. Any ideas on where I can look now? I am located right at the outskirts of Knoxville.

look at the public lands, one of the more popular spots on my favorite WMA gets a lot of pressure and after 2 or 3 weeks of season, the gobblers disappear from the area. but during the first week, if you can get in there early and get your corner of the field to yourself, you can kill em. then there are other areas that just get overlooked by a lot of people, just depends on the WMA and how it is situated. do a lot of scouting, a couple weeks before turkey season find some birds in a few different spots and be sure to get there early as possible, even if it's 2.5 hours before sunrise, so you can be first in there. Even if someone comes in after you and sets up nearby, dont assume the hunt is ruined. This spring I had a guy from arkansas set up a blind and decoys 350 yards across the field from me, and guess what, we both killed gobblers. Best of luck finding a new spot
