never heard the first gobble today hunted from daylight till about 3 and never heard anything seen one hen in the road and a tom in a posted field and thats it. I think it time to fish now!

Your not too far from me... Killed my second of the season friday and had two more gobbling still after I shot him.

Oh I've had plenty of those days around here. Don't feel bad. If I had a boat this year I would have already given up and started fishing... :D

Birds burned it down Sunday and Yesterday, they were a little quiet this morning. Took a morning off I guess. As humid as it is, they could get a little quiet this week.

Birds are henned up really bad in the mtns here in East TN. Which is a little late in my opinion. But they still can be killed.

are you hunting the old royal blue setterman?i thought you said before thats where you hunt around here on public land

I do, the past couple of days I have taken a buddy over into Brimstone or whatever it is called now. Last weekend I hunted near Stinking Creek in Royal Blue, or whatever that is called now.

I have never hunted up there every year i plan on it but havent yet. With all that land to hunt you should be able to find a bird if they are gobbling

I also hunted this morning and it was the first trip all year that I did not hear a gobble. Saw 4 hens, that's it, no toms, no gobbling, did hear a bit of cutting though from hens but nothing else.

Saw a lot of squirrels so I'll be out there this weekend trying to get a turkey along with some squirrels.

And yeah the fishing is getting real good. Caught some bluegill, crappie, and a grass carp in a pond this evening, and as a bonus I went down to the creek right next to the lake and got lucky with a 3lb largemouth.

I hunt these same areas quite a bit myself, actually all over that mtn, from stinking creek all the way back across to Gobey and New river! I have killed quite a few deer and Turks around Brimstone, Stinking creek myself.

heard 2 today

It was quieter then it should have been where I was, but still plenty of birds gobbling. The fog really had them messed up. However, one didn't go back to roost tonight. Keep after them.
