Now that is a headshot

nothing wrong with the shot, very clean kill. But I think they got too excited about the gore of the kill. Yeah the head still moves, normal nervous response, but they got a bit too excited about it. Maybe just the adrenaline from the close range shot, which I could understand. But then they put it on youtube, not something I would do. I would edit out the close up if it was my video...

See my comments in the disgusted thread in this forum, that video exemplifies exactly what I was referring to with hunting these days. More glorifying the gore and killing than the hunt.

There is no glory in killing and certainly nothing to brag about or show off in that manner.

Killing is part of hunting obviously and sometimes gory stuff happens, we've all done it. But celebrating it is unwarranted or condoning it just perpetuates a slob hunter mentality which is running rampant anymore

I agree.

What disgusts me is the hunt like I do or your a slob hunter view some guys have. That video is pretty rough but that's how some people like it. I personally like to shoot'em in the face with a load of Magblends. To each there own I guess.

You misunderstand my point, I love nothing more than to pound one right in the mouth and watch his body hit the leaves. My pants, vest, and back of my boots are stained from the blood of a semi truck full of dead longbeards.

What crawls up my butt, is the celebrating of this on videos, ads, or pictures. It shows zero respect for the animal and a desire to only kill, not enjoy the hunt IMO. If you notice these acts usually spend more time replaying the kill and highlighting the gore then showing the hunt, the set up, or the other fantastic things that occur daily while being outdoors. It shines a big freaking spotlight on the act of death and zero on how it got to that point or desire to inform the viewer. It's only purpose is to glorify the carnage and receive applause from a certain sector of the hunting community.

Yep.
I have absolutely NO problem with the shot. Dang good shooting and a quick ethical kill.
But the close up, to me, was a lack of respect for the turkey. Maybe I'm just getting soft.

Exactly, I shot a bird last year at 4 steps. It literally removed his head from just below his chin. I was happy he was dead, but felt guilty the rest of the day for decimating what was a beautiful display of nature. I guess I must be getting soft as well, I have no problem killing, skinning, gutting, and eating a bunch of critters every year. However, I don't get any kicks from mutilating them prior to cleaning, and dang sure don't get any thrills or joy from publicizing the carnage.

I do not understand the new age of hunters which have invaded this sport. Only in my mid 30's and I must be getting old.

x2 I am glad I'm on the way out of hunting as I have zero in common with the new age of hunters. They seem to have no respect for the game they kill and no value to a hunt. The dead animal is all that matters.

t.v. is imo the biggest problem. all t.v. shows is about the kill. kids see that now days and that's all they want don't get me wrong the thrill of the kill is part of what gets me going. but my most memorable hunts i never even got close to shooting or even picked up the gun or bow. more and more people are about the kill instead of the hunt now. i wish it were different but sadly it is not. completely loss of respect for the animals that we are blessed to be able to hunt.
