It rained all night but was supposed to stop around 7am so I got up and went to a place where I figured they would come out in the fields after the rain stopped. I went to where they are usually roosted and waited but never heard a peep. I decided to go to a different spot a mile away and started the long walk back to the truck. Halfway back I heard a hen yelp a few times so I just sat down in the fencerow. I had walked right by them walking in and figured that's why I didn't hear any gobbles. After a few mins the gobbler and 3 Jake's pitched down 100 yards away into the field just over a rise from me so I cut aggressively on a mouthcall hoping to draw them in before the hens flew down to them. It wasn't long before the gobbler topped the rise at 40 yards but wouldn't come any closer. I had a steady rest and was actually calm so I took the shot and was shocked when I see him fly off. I knew there was no way I missed and watched to see where he flew into the woods at. I started grid searching and almost stepped on him (and screamed like a lil girl) he was still alive but really out of it and didn't know I was even there so I stepped back a few steps and finished him off. He was 21lbs 9.5" beard and 1" spurs. Wet turkeys take bad pics lol. Thank you Lord for this beautiful bird!
