The restocking of Tirkeys here in TN has been one of, if not THE, most succesful program TWRA has ever had!

of course Tx has more turkeys than us, it's the 2nd biggest state if I am not mistaken, but it's good to know that we live in a state that is loaded with turkeys, whether eastern, rio, osceola, whatever...we got a lot of them.

its estimated population, no real way to know a true population obviously. All i know is TN is CCCCOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR in them now which is AWESOME!

In general, do you attribute this TN population more to available habitat or management practices?

Much credit is due to TWRA for their work in restoring turkeys to the state. Our current population and future population levels are probably due more to available habitat than anything else. A large portion of the state (middle TN especially) has the perfect combination of open and forested areas that turkeys prefer.

There is no way that Tennessee's turkey population is larger than Missouri's.

Who cares? How do you go about "estimating" statewide population anyway?

The important part is that when searching for a quality turkey hunt there is really no need to leave the confines of our home state.

People who live in Tn are extremly luck to have the abundance of birds yall have! I enjoy my trip to Tn every spring!

southern wayne co. numbers way down over the last 3 -4 years. We were absoultely covered up with turkeys 00 - 06. Something happened. I blame a series of bad hatches.
