Oak Ridge Tower Sheilding Area Bow Hunt

I got drawn for the Nov. 15th hunt at Oak Ridge in the Tower Sheilding Area. I heard that was a good place to hunt but have never gotten in there. Does any one have any suggetions as far as scotting for a place to hunt?

Can't tell you much about scouting, but I can tell you my buddy took this one out of there two years ago.

I was drawn this year for the first weekend in there.....going to be my first.

Does anyone know the scout date for the Dec 1-2 hunt?

Greg, Take the gravel road just past the guard check-in to the power line at the top of the hill. Park here and walk to the bottom of the power line, go to the right and about 300-400 yds you will come into a thicket that runs along the fence, look around this thicket for trails coming in and out set-up and be patient. There is always lots of big buck sign in here and it has produced a couple of nice bucks the past 2 years. It is one heck of a drag out of there but you will not see many people this far from the road, and it can be worth it if you are patient.Hope this helps and good luck to you and your son.

I hunted it one time.I hated it.most of it is straight up and down.there are way to many people drawn for the hunt.trucks were parked every 50 yards down the road.i hunted one morning and didn't even go back.I had the first dec. hunt 2 years ago One deer was killed all day long.If you can find a thicket way away from the road you should see deer.most people are hunting close to the roads and most of it is open woods up there.

Yes... This was the hunt I was on as well and my feelings exactly. As a matter of fact, I was disapointed on scout day. My son and I did see several deer and a few bucks but one deer was all that had been killed all day when we left at dark. We did not go back.
Yes there may be a big buck there but, in my opinion... Place is "Way Overrated".

I'm sure some people love Tower Shielding, but everybody I've talked with personally hates the place. I put in for every Oak Ridge hunt minus Tower Shielding.
