do you guys take down your bows during the offseason and if so, does it make your strings last longer?

If you do, what steps do you take when putting the string back on....is there lots of adjustments to be made......?

should I get a bow shop to do it for me?

thanks

BH

Bottom Hunter,

Some may disagree with me but in my opinion leave your bow set up. It won't hurt it a bit. Do not remove the string, reason is there are a certain amount of twist in your set up and the more you remove it and put it back on the stretch factor comes in. etc....

Do your bow maintenance and wax the string before storage.

The best thing to do is to keep shooting it all year....

X2! Find something to keep you active with your bow. Target practice, varmit hunt, turkey hunt, hunt them ole tree rats. That is a blast. Fletch up some arrows for them. You will love it after you hit one, they get easier!

I kill turkey with my bow in the "off season". And when I'm done doing that, I stay on the lake bowfishing. No off season, just a break from killing deer for a little while.

It won't hurt your bow one bit to leave it strung.

I've never heard of folks taking down a compound bow. Much like a guitar if you take the tension off the strings it will change dramaticly. Then once you put tension back on the string you'll have one hell of a time getting it tuned back until everything settles in agian.
