OH State's QB

I hate bye weeks. What a bonehead move. Luckily it was a misdemeanor and not a mandatory two week suspension, but Cardale will be back in the saddle and JT is now in Urban's doghouse. Caught trying to avoid a campus checkpoint. Stupid.

An athlete gets a DUI and you're happy because the charges didn't trigger an automatic two week suspension?

Urban was recently interviewed criticizing the way FSU handled Jameis Winston for stealing crab legs and his other off the field issues, yet he had nearly 40 players arrested when he was the FL coach.

I wonder if he will walk the walk with Barrett, or continue to allow criminal behavior on his team?
I was wondering if someone would post about this. :tu:

Touché. Bad choice on my part and the fan(atic) in me coming out.

As I said, though, stupid, bonehead decision on his part, but the law does distinguish between between felonies and misdemeanors (but it should also be added that this was underage drinking; he's 20).

JT will probably be suspended the two games and won't see the field again this season even after he gets back in pads.

I think Gravey said it best.

It's cool I certainly don't think he should be kicked off the team...or even suspended for the remainder of the season. Gravey did say it well.

He should allowed to play again this season. It's not like he got busted with a GNC product in his system :rotf:

DUI and a charge for eluding(Backing without saftey). I would like to see how Meyer handles this. :tu:

Head coach Urban Meyer spoke to reporters Monday, telling them he made the decision to suspend Barrett, adding the quarterback will also "forfeit his scholarship for a 'term.'" Ohio State later clarified Barrett's summer aid was what was revoked, not his tuition, via Ryan Cooper of The Lantern.

baddnole, glad you approve.

How long and how many run-ins did Jameis have with the law before Jimbo held him out of the first half of that game last season? Did Jameis have to forfeit his scholarship for a semester? For an out-of-state student (Barrett is from Texas), that amounts to almost $30,000 that is also going to come out of Barrett's (or his parents') pockets. To be fair, Barrett will be allowed to "earn it back," but may also lose his captaincy. As my link to the prior precedents for similar DUI violations, including one-game suspensions imposed by Alabama, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, and Pitt, one game is the standard for a first DUI offense. Urban actually added the revocation of the scholarship for a semester based on prior Ohio State precedent.

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones (and that goes for every college football fan that frequents this board.)

He got a whole game for saying a cuss word,1 cuss word. 30 hours community service and 3 games for crab leggs. You don't really want me to tell all about Urban do you?
JT got behind the wheel drunk and could have killed someone. Big difference OHVATN. So who is paying that 30,000 for Barrett? If it's not 30,000 why sensationalise the whole thing ,to make it like he is really doing something for his actions. Winston is gone--------.Players leave ,coaches stay. Watch out for Urban.
Not JT 's first time at the dance either.

More revisionist history on your part baddnole. Jameis was suspended 3 games by the baseball team for the crab legs incident. He received no suspension for the claim of sexual assault. He received a half game suspension by Jimbo after yelling the sexually explicit and profane statement in the cafeteria, which was increased to a full game after the public outcry.

JT Barrett was arrested by Columbus police. What he did, as I've said before was stupid, dangerous, and a misdemeanor. He was arrested, suspended one game (which as I pointed out is in line with what other programs have done with similar incidents), lost a semester of financial aid, and might lose his starting job going forward. But, you blow it out of proportion in a vain attempt to make your favorite criminal look better by comparison. If JT Barrett was Florida State's qb, he would have been driven home by the police and we would have never heard about this, but it happened in Columbus, not Tallahassee. Different environments.

And as far is your insinuation goes, JT Barrett called the police on the ex-girlfriend because she wouldn't leave his apartment. She then called and made the false sexual assault claim. Unlike the Jameis incident, her claim was actually and timely investigated by Columbus police and no charges were filed because there was no basis in the allegation. Unlike in the Jameis situation, there were no bruises, there was no semen. Given how the Columbus police acted to arrest JT for the OVI compared to the actions of the Tallahassee police in not investigating the claim of sexual assault (or more accurately botching the investigation as it was handled by an officer who also provided paid security to FSU boosters), there is absolutely no comparison between the two sexual assault allegations. In fact, as we all learned in the FSU kangaroo court proceedings, sexual relations actually did occur between Jameis (along with his comrades) and the victim. He admitted as much, but the retired judge FSU alum ruled that the woman miraculously consented (again, conflict of interest rules apparently don't apply to criminal or other investigations involving FSU football players in Tallahassee). In a gross miscarriage of justice, the judge believed Jamies when he testified that he took her moans to mean "yes." JT's dancing and Jameis's dancing around the truth can't be compared.

At this point baddnole, I'd give up. Your glass house was shattered long ago.
